First edition of ‘Monday Mingle’ is Mikael who is one of my best friend. He lives in Jakarta while his hometown is Makassar. In Indonesia, Jakarta and Makassar is located in different island. Now, in daily life he works as SAP Consultant. I traveled with Mikael during my Thailand – Cambodia trip and all I can say that he is a quite good travel mate. First time travel & Where?

When I was 5 years old and my parents traveled back to their hometown in Toraja. We lived in Samarinda at that time.

What’s inspired you to travel at the first time/what’s your first travel-related memory?

When I visited my parents’s hometown in Toraja, It took 8 hours by bus from Makassar, the capital of South Sulawesi. I saw very unique culture and different panorama – nature scenes along the way: mountain, rice fields, forest, sea, green pasture, and swamp – which were amazed me. Since then I really want to visit other places in world to experience the other culture and see the beauty of nature in different area.

Cities you’ve been visited?

Indonesia: Toraja, Bira, Surabaya, Malang, Tretes,Bandung, Bali, Lombok, Semarang, Karimun Jawa, Kep. Seribu, Yogyakarta

Overseas: Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Malaka, Phuket, Chiang Mai, Bangkok, Siem Reap, Hong Kong, Macau

Favorite place you’ve been & why?

Hongkong. The weather, cuisine, transportation, goods and service price, the people are the reasons why I love the city.

What’s the best or memorable day you’ve ever had while traveling?

Visited Angkor Wat in Siem Reap. The structure is huge and always make me wonder how come people in the ancient time can build something like that. It’s always fascinating me.

Something you’ve done during travel & will never do it again?

So far I never did something that make me never want to do it again.

Any peculiar ritual during your travel?

Checking all the documents thrice before leaving my room. Some kind of OCD? 🙂

Your bucket list (travel-wise)?

Japan, Europe Trip, China Trip, New Zealand, Turkey, USA Trip, Rio de Jenairo, Russia including Trans Siberia, Egypt, Australia, and Machu Picchu Site.

What’s or what will be the reason to keep you traveling?

Traveling is my hobby. I really love it. I need travel to have fun and relax myseld. And of course to escape from my daily routine.
