My Dearest One
During our stay in Bern, since it was a very short time (not even 1 full day), it was decided we would explore the historic Bern Old Town which will be in walking distance from the train station where we will depart to our next destination. The Old Town is mainly covered by this shopping promenade which claimed as the longest covered shopping promenade in Europe. Covered means the shopping arcade walking area is under the roof, you won’t get wet as I was when the rain came. This place is called ‘The Lauben’ by the Bernese.
These shopping promenade lead us into a lot of Bern’s historical site, so it is a journey of time accompanied by modern window shopping. A perfect combination 🙂 It offers a various kind of stores. Of course the famous Victorinox swiss-army knife is there. You can find clothing store, shoe store, vintage book store, drugstore, or even costume shop. But what would be interesting for me would be the way they do the store/retail display. It made me want to play trivia by looking into the display then guessing what would be the store selling item.
So let’s start the trivia!
Well that would some of them.
To reach this shopping arcade, we just need to find Bern Central Station (or Bern Bahnhof). The Bahnhof is located in the beginning of the arcade. From other part of the town, it is connected by tram. So it is an easy-peasy!
Lot of stores put their selling items outside the store without having someone look at it. So the trust system in the community is really impressive. The seller put trust that no one will pickpocket their goods while the customers have enough integrity not to do that. I do really hope one day my beloved country will have such of community culture 🙂 Keep the good faith people!
Tram from our hotel to Bern Bahnhof -> 2.2 CHF
McDonald for breakfast -> 6.8 CHF
An umbrella which later left in Barcelona -> 8 CHF
What we bought -> only fringe magnet 7.9 CHF
